Irish Done Right

MARCH 13th

Join us on Friday, March 13th from 7 pm - 9 pm for an evening filled with Irish dance, music, and delectable food. A highlight of this program will be a performance by St. Joseph’s Irish Dancers, led by founder Meg Barrett. In addition to their dance performance, the dancers will serve as wait staff during the dinner portion of the event.

Youth Art Competition

MARCH 14th

Youth entries will be featured in the Lucas Mansion Art Gallery during the month of March. An awards ceremony and reception will be held on Saturday, March 14 at 1pm. All art is due by Thursday, Feb 19th @4PM.

MARCH 19th

The Annual Adult Regional Artist Competition will be featured in the Lucas Mansion Art Gallery during the month of April. An awards ceremony and reception will be held on Saturday, April 4 at 1pm. The entry deadline is no later than 4pm on Thursday, March 19th at the Lucas Mansion.

Painted Barn Quilt Workshop

Ongoing Classes

6-week Pottery Class

$65/$75 and $35 clay fee

Join Sally Warren as she instructs pottery for all levels on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:00 pm at the Center's Education Complex.  Class takes place in a fully equipped pottery studio!  Students of all levels enjoy creative freedom as Sally facilitates and teaches various pottery techniques.  Please call the Hiddenite Arts & Heritage Center for start dates and class availability information 828-632-6966

Heritage Homeschool Classes

The Basic Heritage Homeschool class will take place from September through May!  Parents remain with their children and play a special part in the learning experience.  The class series keeps the family at heart and is open to students from kindergarten through high school!

Emerging Artist - Black History Month

The Hiddenite Arts and Heritage Center announces that its Emerging Artists Gallery for January and February 2026 will focus on Black History Month, celebrating the contributions of notable Black Americans with special emphasis on NASA astronaut and physicist Dr. Ronald E. McNair.  The exhibit will also include selected figures from the All God’s Children collection, donated by the late Bonnie Miller of Statesville.

The Art of Theresa McDanel

The Hiddenite Arts and Heritage Center is thrilled to announce a special exhibition featuring the work of Alexander County artist, Theresa McDanel. The exhibit will run throughout January and February 2026 and will showcase McDanel’s vibrant acrylic paintings as well as cyanotype prints. Contents of this gallery will feature McDanel’s signature acrylic equine and landscape paintings. Additionally, visitors will have the opportunity to view her botanical cyanotype prints.
